Raven is, according to the old stories, one of the first of the First People to come into existence, along with The Crow Girls. It was Raven who stirred up the pot(known therefore as "Raven's pot") to bring the world into existence.

Over the ages, Raven has taken responsibility for the safeguarding of the pot, though from time to time it has evaded his watchful eye to be taken advantage of by Cody to (literally) stir up trouble.

Though Raven is, by all reports, very wise and experienced, at the time of Someplace To Be Flying he has withdrawn from the world, spending all his time sitting in top floor apartment of The Rookery, being tended to by Chloe as he stares vacantly out the front window. No one knows where his mind is or exactly why, and it is never said how long he has been in this state, although it has been at least nine years.

In his current human skin, Raven is an enormous man, likened by nearly everyone to a representation of Buddha, with skin "the color of the midnight sky," a round face and dark eyes. He has no visible hair, not even eyebrows and weighs an estimated 500 pounds. He is, obviously, a raven Corbae.
